In a new letter to the judge, Trump’s lawyer, Alina Haba, is asking the court for mercy because Donald Trump does not have the $91 million required for the bond of the judgment of AJane Carroll.

NBC’s Lisa Rubin posted:
In a new letter tonight, Elena Haba is asking Judge Leo Kaplan — who is still ruling on Trump’s request to implement the $83.3 million judgment of A.J. Go – for some mercy.

In particular, she notes that the current stay expires on Monday and asks that if Kaplan does not rule until tomorrow, he should stay at least three business days after the decision to enter into force.

what does that mean? Trump may have trouble arranging the more than $91 million in bonds that would be needed to cover the judgment and interest.

“And hoping Kaplan will deny his request for a longer stay, he’s trying to buy himself time to get one or free up enough money.”

The letter is an attempt to buy Trump more time as he struggles to raise cash to post bond to appeal AJ Carroll’s decision.

The courts have not yet played along with Trump’s efforts to stall because he doesn’t have the money to post the bond required to appeal the rulings against him.

E. Jean Carroll has made it clear that the clock is ticking, and she wants her money.
Without a judge’s stay, A.Jane Carroll could start going after Trump’s assets to get the money she’s owed.

Trump may have locked up the nomination on Tuesday, but he returned to the world of legal injury on Wednesday.
